In recent years, Liverpool have proven more reluctant to spend the kind of money Brighton are asking for on a single player. Jurgen Klopp may push the board to cough up, however, having battled a long midfield injury list for much of the season including Naby Keita and Curtis Jones.

Chelsea and Newcastle could also enter the running for Caicedo, who has scored once in 11 Premier League appearances this term. Both teams have Brighton connections with ex-Seagulls boss Potter in charge at Stamford Bridge and former technical director Ashworth now overseeing operations at St James’ Park.
