Ashton ‘h20’ Sylve moved to 8-0 with an impressive 61-second knock out over Braulio Rodriguez (20-5). The 18-year-old baffled fans as he walked out in a Minion outfit but quickly made his mark with a perfectly-timed left hook.
Rodriguez, a former opponent of Ryan Garcia’s was supposed to provide a stern test for the fast-rising prospect but wasn’t able to see out the first round. From the off, Sylve pushed back his experience foe, going in search of the finishing blow.
As Rodriguez opened up with a fast flurry, Sylve kept his cool and caught the shots on his gloves. Waiting for his moment, the h20 let an explosive left-hook fly which sent the Dominican to the canvas early.
Rodriguez tried to make his way to his feet but stumbled and staggered all over the ring. Seeing enough, the referee waved off the contest, awarding Sylve his eighth knockout victory from as many bouts.
Before scoring the vicious stoppage, Sylve’s ring attire caught the attention of boxing fans. Walking in a giant yellow Minion suit with diamond eyes, Sylve revealed the inspiration for his walk out in his post-fight interview.
