Potter given hostile reception
It was unclear what sort of reception Chelsea boss Potter would receive on his return to Brighton. The 47-year-old insisted he was taking the chance of a lifetime when he ended his three-year spell with the South Coast side to replace Tuchel.
But Brighton fans are clearly still furious with their former head coach for ditching them just as they were starting to build a team capable of challenging for Europe. “You’re getting sacked in the morning!” was the chant from the home fans as Brighton raced into a 3-0 lead.
Potter took the majority of his coaching staff, including Brighton icon Bruno Saltor. With recruitment chief Paul Winstanley also set to move to Stamford Bridge, there is plenty of bitterness among the Seagulls faithful.
This was hardly a happy comeback for Potter, who suffered his first Premier League defeat in charge of Chelsea in the process.
