Putin rules out peace with ‘aggressive’ West in chilling speech

Putin claimed that Western leaders had undermined “traditional values”, instilling a culture of “dozens of genders” and “gay parades”.

During his comments to the assembled pro-Russian intellectuals, according to one translation he said: “We need to clearly understand, as I have said before, that there are at least two types of West – maybe more.

“There is a West of traditional, primarily Christian values; freedom, patriotism and rich culture in our seismic values, as well as a significant amount of progress – and this kind of West is close to us. We have common roots. Classical antiquity.

“But there is another kind of West: aggressive cosmopolite, a colonial being and weapon of [a] neoliberal elite, and Russia naturally will never make peace with this kind of West.”
