Michael Kopsa dead: X-Files and Galaxy Angel actor dies aged 66 as cause of death shared

    Michael Kopsa, who is best remembered for acting in shows like The X-Files, Fringe and Galaxy Angel, has died aged 66. The late star’s family announced the sad news as they revealed the Canadian actor’s cause of death.

    Michael’s ex-wife Lucia Frangione wrote a post confirming his death on her Instagram page.

    She told her followers that Michael had died on October 23 following “a brain tumour”.

    Sharing a picture of the actor, she penned: “The great Michael Kopsa passed away Oct 23 2022 of a brain tumour. 

    “He was an incredible stage and screen actor, voice actor, musician, carpenter, painter, and most importantly a present and loving father to our Nora.

    Others will remember Michael as recurring Observer villain Captain Windmark in the fourth and fifth seasons of Fringe.

    Some viewers might also recognise his voice from X-Men: Evolution, where he portrayed Beast.

    Michael also appeared in science fiction TV series Stargate SG-1 on several occasions.

    In addition, he played Dean Winters in popular show Smallville, and Ned Cecil in Fantastic Four.

     

     

     

     

     

     

    The star notably also portrayed Brady in a TV adaptation of popular franchise Honey, I Shrunk The Kids.

    Aside from his work on television, he also appeared in multiple films for the Hallmark channel including It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas, Love in Winterland, Marrying Father Christmas, and Valentine in the Vineyard.

    Michael was born in Toronto in 1956 and moved to New York to study at the Circle in the Square theatre.

    He later went back to Canada to finish his education at the University of Toronto, where he earned a degree in arts and science, before starting his successful acting career.

    Many people took to social media to pay tribute to the late star, including former colleague Peter New, who wrote: “Very saddened to hear of the passing of Michael Kopsa. 

    “A joy to work with every time, but always a delight to see this severe-looking character guy let his bumbling loveable side loose every week in #lps. Happy times in bluer skies my friend. #rip”

    Michael Coleman also shared a picture of the actor with the caption: “Michael Kopsa. He was truly one of the best of us. Gone far too soon. Big love brother.”

    Music producer Cole Plante wrote: “RIP Michael Kopsa, Char’s English voice is one of the most memorable from all my childhood.”
