Royal author Katie Nicholls has said that the greatest threat to King Charles’s rule is apathy from the public.

Speaking to the To Di For Daily, Ms Nicholl said: “I spoke to a constitutional historian, Dr Anna Whitelock, and I thought one of the most powerful things she said in her interview is that the greatest threat to Charles’ reign is apathy.

    “I think she’s absolutely right.

“The idea that people will just clock off, they won’t be interested in the monarchy.

“They won’t really understand the monarchy and they won’t have any interest and that potentially spells a republic and the end of the monarchy.

“Everything we’ve seen in these first weeks of King Charles’s reign I think suggested everything but apathy.”
