A teenager who murdered four students and wounded seven others in a terrifying shooting spree at Michigan high school last year has pleaded guilty.
Ethan Crumbley pleaded guilty to 24 charges, including one count of terrorism causing death and four counts of first-degree murder.
After previously pleading not guilty earlier in the year, the gunman changed his plea at a hearing in Oakland County Circuit Court today.
The 16-year-old faces up to life in prison without parole on several of the charges.
Oakland County Chief Assistant Prosecutor David Williams said Ethan will receive no plea deal.
Earlier this year, lawyers for Ethan said in a court notice that he would mount an insanity defence.
Two boys, ages 17 and 16, and two girls, ages 17 and 14, were killed while six other students and a teacher were wounded.
During the teen’s arraignment, prosecutors described Ethan “methodically and deliberately” walking the hallways, aiming a gun at students and firing at close range after emerging from a school restroom holding the firearm.
It was claimed some of the children armed themselves with scissors in case they needed to fight back.
