Antiques Roadshow presenter Fiona Bruce replaced David Dimbleby as Question Time’s host three years ago. David hosted the BBC debate programme for 25 years until he was 80 years old before Fiona stepped into his shoes. While the 58-year-old has received acclaim for her presenting the show, she had admitted it’s the “most challenging job I’ve ever done”.

Fiona started her television career as a researcher on Panorama in Shepherd’s Bush, London, in 1989.

She went on to become the first female newsreader on BBC’s News at Ten and presented flagship shows such as Crimewatch and Antiques Roadshow.

Fiona is now tasked with hosting Question Time where political figures have to answer burning questions from the public.

She recently earned huge applause on the programme after clashing with a Labour MP on how the party would pay for their leader’s ambitious economic plans.

“There was a courtyard with drainpipes with these excrescences, some kind of foam, extruding from the building,” Fiona recalled. “Absolutely revolting.

“I’d come from advertising, which was pretty shiny and was astonished.

“But on my first day, I thought, ‘I’ve had two career false starts [management consultancy and advertising], but this is it. This is what I want to do.'”

Fiona has won several accolades for her work as a broadcaster over the past 30 years.
