Netflix bosses have come under fire for their decision to depict Princess Diana’s final moments in Paris before her fatal car crash in August 1997 on hit series The Crown. Crew members on the show have admitted they fear a “line has been crossed”.
In Season 5 the main roles have all been recast, with Elizabeth Debicki and Dominic West taking on the parts of Princess Diana and Prince Charles.
The popular show has been accused of insensitivity over its upcoming dramatic storylines, especially airing so soon after the Queen’s death.
These include Prince Philip allegedly pursuing an affair with close friend Penny Knatchbull and Prince Charles supposedly plotting against Her Majesty.
However, the portrayal of Diana’s untimely death have caused concern amongst the crew, reported The Sun.
A set source said: “To be going back to Paris and turning Diana’s final days and hours into a drama feels very uncomfortable.
“Finally, some of the crew members are pushing back on the ideas being tabled.
“The show always tried to present a fictional version of royal history with as much sensitivity as possible.

Netflix have said: “The exact moment of the crash impact will not be shown.”

Sources close to Prince William said they believe he will be upset by the move to reproduce his mother’s final days purely for entertainment.
