UK records 7,540 new cases as Indian variant surges – highest total since late February

The UK has recorded a huge number of coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. 

It will further concerns surrounding the June 21 date – in which Britain is planning to end lockdown rules across the nation. 

The figure is the highest since the end of February.
