It has been claimed that Toney’s penalty-taking abilities should give him the edge over rival strikers such as Tammy Abraham, Ollie Watkins and Dominic Calvert-Lewin. And Toney boldly proclaimed that goalkeepers hate facing him from the spot after opening up on his routine from 12 yards.
“To be honest, I don’t even know where I’m going [with the penalty] until I kick the ball,” he added. “Obviously keepers do their best to talk but I try not to let anyone get in my head.
“I just walk away and keep myself composed, let them do their thing, think of different things, think of being on a beach with a cocktail.
“I do it everyday in training and the keepers must be sick of me! In between sessions, I’ll grab the keeper for a quick few penalties. But listen, the manager knows what I do and that I do it well.”
