Now London Mayor Sadiq Khan is facing mounting pressure to act and enforce an injunction against protestors, which the Met Police cannot do without TfL or the relevant council’s agreement that demonstrators are causing “serious disruption to the life of the community”.
Speaking to the London Assembly, Sir Mark said he was “frustrated” his officers couldn’t be “more assertive” due to “the view that it doesn’t cause serious disruption.”
He said: “I know that there will be people who have a different view but if my officers are to make legal intervention they need to stand it upon some evidence that that is reasonable, and frustratingly that is the situation we are in.”
So should Sadiq Khan step in and end Just Stop Oil chaos?
