Frank Warren has confirmed Tyson Fury’s next three opponents in a list that doesn’t include Anthony Joshua. The Gypsy King is currently in negotiations to face Derek Chisora for the third time on December 3 and will follow that up with high-profile scraps against Oleksandr Usyk and Joe Joyce.
Fury had been close to securing the long-awaited grudge match with Joshua on the same date as his proposed trilogy with Del Boy, however, communication dropped after weeks of back and forth. Eddie Hearn pointed the blame at Frank’s son George for not responding while the Queensbury Director claimed that Hearn’s communication ‘lacked substance’.
When talking about the possibility of the all-British showdown ever happening, Warren told Express Sport: “I don’t see where it goes now, I spoke to Tyson yesterday and he was talking about Joyce next year, having this fight with Chisora, hopefully unifying the titles [against Oleksandr Usyk] and then fighting Joe Joyce so that’s his next year for him, isn’t it?
“That’s what Tyson was talking about, so we’ll see where we go with it… whatever he chooses to do, I’ll support it, I look at my relationship with him as a little bit special and I only want the best for him.”
“That’s where we are with the fight, we are still trying to get it done because of all of the time we wasted on the other fight [Anthony Joshua]. We want to get him out before the end of the year so he can have the big one in February with Usyk.
“If you look down the BoxRec ratings Chisora is the highest available challenger… they’ve had a few words over the last few months and I think Fury makes a very valid point, Chisora did give Usyk a very tough fight so it will be a good yardstick.”
