Liverpool midfielder Arthur Melo is reportedly set to undergo surgery this weekend after picking up an injury in training. The Brazilian has only played a handful of minutes since signing on loan from Juventus during the summer transfer window and he will now be out for up to four months as part of his recovery.

Arthur has been a peripheral figure since completing his temporary switch from Juve on deadline day. The Brazilian signed a season-long loan deal but a huge part of it looks set to be wiped out thanks to an injury he picked up on Monday.

The midfielder sat out Liverpool’s Champions League win over Rangers on Tuesday. According to The Athletic, Arthur is poised to undergo surgery this weekend in a devastating blow that will likely keep him out of action for between three and four months.

The former Barcelona star arrived at Anfield lacking match fitness and he has only notched 13 minutes of first-team football so far. He put in extra sessions over the international break as he looked to regain sharpness and make an impact on Klopp’s side.
