The Prince of Wales, who is known for his love of sports, visited the home of England’s national football teams to meet with the young footballers. William took over from his uncle, Prince Andrew, as President of the Football Association in 2006.
William’s visit was to mark the 10th anniversary of St George’s Park being the Football Association’s home ground.
Young players from Christchurch Primary School were some of the youngsters to meet the Prince on Wednesday morning.
The school tweeted: “More excitement. HRH Prince William is at the tournament and our captain Ben has met him on behalf of our team.
“They had a quick chat and HRH gave a big shout-out to all goalkeepers and congratulated those who are brave enough to be in goal.”
During his visit, William stood with players from the deaf team to conduct half-time talks using sign language.
The Prince also met with young teams from CCFC Community, which is a charity based in Coventry.
It helps to provide sport, health, inclusion and education programmes across Coventry & Warwickshire.
The organisation tweeted: “Brilliant start to the day at St George’s park. A representative from @CliffordBridge meeting Prince William. In addition some great results for both teams so far!”
