Strictly 'sexist' row as fans blast judges for scoring Kaye Adams higher than co-stars

Strictly Come Dancing made its return on Saturday night, and saw all 15 celebrities take to the dance floor for the very first time. Will Mellor and Hamza Yassin topped the leaderboard with 34 points after their performances, while poor Tony Adams landed at the bottom with 15 points. However, some BBC viewers felt the judges, Craig Revel Horwood, Shirley Ballas, Anton du Beke and Motsi Mabuse either overscored or underscored some of the celebrities.

Following the first live show, angry viewers took to social media to blast the judges’ scoring.

One viewer even branded the marks “sexist” after Kaye Adams scored higher than some of her co-stars.

Another thought Matt Goss had been “robbed” after he received a lower score than expected.

Kendall pointed out: “Craig watching Kym, Tyler and Jayde before Kaye and scoring her higher than them all was an interesting choice…”

Shirley was also thrilled with Kaye’s frame, telling her: ” You really did have a beautiful top line.

“You need to trust yourself and trust your partner. There were way too many mistakes right down the centre line.”

Anton told Kaye not to worry about her mistakes, adding: “It was just nerves.

“You had a lovely line, your arm line is immaculate. Your footwork is really good when you do the bits you want to do.”
