Sky News captured the heartbreaking scene in Brazil during a report on the scourge of the unregulated meat trade across the world stemming from the Amazon rainforest. Reporting amid the hard to watch scenes, reporter Stuart Ramsay said how consumers in Britain “will never know” that their meat could come from such depraved animal cruelty as this.
The video shows the moment cattle are rushed onto a boat bound for the slaughter houses.
Dozens of cows rush up, stumbling over one another injuring themseleves in what is clearly a traumatic experience for the animals.
Mr Ramsay notes how with “no regulation, no controls and certainly no vets” the wellbeing of the cows seems to be “utterly ignored”.
But in a tearjerking moment one of the cows slips and struggles to make it up the ramp.

Unable to stand or move up the ramp, the clearly injured is then subjected to vile treatment by the ranchers who set about a raft of horrific practices to budge the cow.
In one moment a herdsman can be seen brutally twisting and bending the defenceless animal’s tail in order to shift the huge beast.
With little luck, the cruel ranchers then attempt to force the steer’s head under water by stamping on its forehead multiple times.
In one particularly sad moment, the cow is held under water for a number of seconds as it desperately struggles for air.

Following the grim scenes, Stuart Ramsay slams: “This is very nasty and that animal is absolutely exhausted.
“Nobody knows where that beef is going to end up.
“It could be in Britain, it could be in Europe, it could be in a Argentina, it could be in Brazil!
“And that is the real issue here, nobody is across what is happening and of course the treatment and usual procedures don’t exist.”
