Man, 22, raped in 'horrific' town centre attack

    Greater Manchester Police have appealed for people to come forward with information about this “shocking and horrific” attack. The man who suffered the assault was 22 years old. The rape occurred in Bolton town centre at approximately 3.30 am in the early hours of Sunday morning.

    It has been reported that he was approached by another man and raped in Back Mawdsley Street in Bolton town centre.

    A police investigation is now under way.

    Greater Manchester Police believe the victim was approached by another man on Nelson Square.

    According to the Manchester Evening News, the man then walked with the other man to Back Mawdsley Street where he was raped.

    Police have currently made no arrests.

    They are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.

    A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: “At around 3.30 am this morning, Sunday 7 November 2021, police were called to reports of a rape on Back Mawdsely Street, Bolton.

    “Enquiries have established that the victim, a 22-year-old man, was approached by a man near Nelson Square who walked with him to Back Mawdsley Street where he proceeded to rape the victim.

    “No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.”
