Man Utd's XI if Jose Mourinho had stayed in charge – no Cristiano Ronaldo or Paul Pogba

    Attack: Greenwood, Fernandes, Rashford; Lukaku

Mourinho made some controversial decisions at United, but no elite manager in world football would have ignored the noise Mason Greenwood was making in the youth ranks.

However, instead of Jadon Sancho arriving as competition, he targeted more experienced names like Ivan Perisic and Willian, who would’ve come in as a squad option.

Mourinho has always admired Bruno Fernandes, while Marcus Rashford played a prominent role during his tenure.

But a big difference would be that Romelu Lukaku, who he signed from Everton in 2017, may have stayed at the club rather than leaving for Italy.

Lukaku didn’t fit into Solskjaer’s style and left Old Trafford after just two years. That, plus Ronaldo’s reported lack of respect for Mourinho, would’ve prevented the 36-year-old’s sensational return this summer.
