Social media cleaning influencer, Sophie Hinchcliffe, known as Mrs Hinch, continues to inspire millions of people to clean their homes everyday. Regularly sharing her tips with 4.1million followers, Mrs Hinch fans now share their own tips with each other online.

“Chuck a good couple of cups of soda crystals directly into the empty drum.

“Scrub and rinse the drawer and then put back into the machine. Then pour a good few slugs of bleach into the detergent and fabric conditioner compartments and set off on a 90 degree wash or as hot as your machine can go.”

Sue Compton agreed and wrote: “Soda crystals are brilliant and cheap for lots of jobs, best method.”

Soda crystals can be purchased in large bags for as little as 79p, making them an affordable cleaning option.

Sharon Graham agreed and said: “Use bicarbonate of soda and white vinegar.”

White vinegar is a great cleaner and disinfectant because it is made from acetic acid.

The acidic nature of the vinegar is so powerful it can help to dissolve dirt, grease and grime as well as help to prevent it building up.

It is also strong enough to kill bacteria that may be lingering in the washing machine.

Another comment from Kirstie Matthews said: “Make sure to also leave the washing machine drawer and door open when you’re finished cleaning, it’ll help to air it out and stop nasty smells.”
